Rajasthan State Handloom Development Corporation was constituted in 1984 with the main objective to promote the cotton handloom textile sector of Rajasthan. It plays a pivotal role in skill upgradation, design & development and market facilitation or traditional weavers and artisans of the state in modern techniques.
By setting the above programmes RHDC assists the weavers and artisans to meet the demands of the market. For the simple villager who has always been the main loom worker , weaving of fabric ran on conventional lines, but now with assistance from RHDC, the weaver is more equipped to cater to modern market requirements. RHDC supplies the weavers with latest designs in weaving as well as printing on handloom cloth. RHDC undertakes research for improving weaving & printing techniques and organizes sales & exhibitions.
The corporation has set up several showrooms within and outside the state. They not only provide an outlet to the weaver for his finished products but also meet the growing demand for good quality handlooms. From the exotic blue lakes of Udaipur to the shimmering sands of Barmer the master weavers of Rajasthan churn out a vast array of exquisite handlooms.
